Now that we have touched on the rent payment, how you can become a landlord exactly, the tenant screening process, it is now time to finally get to the good stuff. When you are a landlord, you need to make sure that you keep track of everything – seriously. You want to make sure that you file away everything and keep every little piece of things.

The reason for this is because if you do have to go to court for any reason – you have the proof. That is why PayYourRent.com is actually a fantastic site for it is not only for you to keep track of your tenants rent, but it also has a place for the tenant to request for you to repair something and you can fix it.

After it is fixed, it goes in the back log, which is an incredible resource to have. So make sure that you check that out if you are considering becoming a landlord.

Now that you have your screening process in place, the next step is making sure that you come up with a binding contract. This is something that you will want to get your lawyer involved with, as you want to make sure that everything is on the up and up between you and the tenant. Most of the time – it is going to be simple, but you want to still have one.

If you do not come up with a contract, that is when problems could come in. For example, if the tenant trashes your place and leaves it … you can’t exactly bring them to court to get some money because you did not have a binding agreement between the two of you. That is why it is so important to get your lawyer involved.

Being a landlord is not easy, but it is something that you can do – in the next blog, we are going to talk about repairs and how you can keep track of them.

If you are becoming a landlord – there are a few things that you should probably look into. For one, you want to make sure that there is some screening process for your tenants. I have heard horror stories about landlords having some terrible, terrible tenants and that is not something that you should really want to deal with nor should you have to.

You also want to ensure that you really check out the rental history of any tenant that may be interested in renting your place from you. After all, you want to ensure that you are getting a good tenant and the rental history will tell you a lot.

Finally, a credit check is something that is necessary in this day and age, as you want to ensure that your tenants have at least decent credit and that they have a history of paying their bills on time.

Now that we have talked a little bit about how you can become a landlord and why most people who are inexperienced are becoming landlords. Now, let’s go ahead and talk about how you can ease the process of being a landlord and how you can eliminate some of those headaches you are probably experiencing. PayYourRent.com is the answer.

This is actually a fantastic way for your tenants to log on and pay their rent right online, which is one thing that tenants complain about. The owner will basically receive an email that the payment has been made and the money has been deposited into the account. This is similar to paypal, but it is specifically for rent.

This also actually simplifies and provides you a track record of repair work as well as this particular website provides a portal for the owner and tenant to submit maintenance requests.

Whenever you are renting out a space that you own – it can be difficult to take off your homeowner hat and become a landlord. Becoming a landlord usually it met with a ton of different objections and most of them are from the lack of experience on the landlord’s part. In the next few blogs, we are actually going to explore some of the things that you, as a landlord can do to make your job easy.

The reason that so many inexperienced people are becoming landlords is because of the current market conditions. No one seems to be buying and everyone is renting and if you have a property that you are renting out – there is an easier way for you to navigate through the process of becoming a landlord.

For one – there is a company out there that can actually help you process the checks that you will be getting, we will get into that in the next blog.
